Accomplishments

My Journey

In my first 4 years as a Director at Marina Coast Water District (MCWD), I prioritized the protection of our water resources. Points of pride include:

  • Consistently voted for environmental efforts. For example, I fully supported the Aquifer Groundwater Sustainability Plan, with political shrewdness. and an eye on long-term policy considerations.

  • Ensuring we get the best sources to inform our assessments of future policies and directions, as shown through our work with Stanford University’s forecasting and mapping underground water.

  • Systematically voted for providing you with clean, reliable, inexpensive water and safe removal of your wastewater and against those driven by big businesses interests, including Cal Am.

  • Supporting MCWD employee safety and initiatives to empower them to care for our water as if it was for their own families.

  • Working hard to ensure that MCWD’s accomplishments are publicized to protect our regional public water sources. For example, I publicly shared our Environmental Justice concerns about Cal AM wells, consulting with constituents before I shared these concerns with the California Coastal Commission.

My interests in civic service started early on in life and were further fueled by my educational pursuits. I hold an M.S. in Policy Analysis and Management from Pepperdine and B.Sc. in Public Policy Analysis from Cornell University and a 10 years career in civic service.

My background in policy analysis and management make me uniquely qualified to serve on the Board of Directors of Marina Coast Water District (MCWD):

  • My education allows me to assess the policies & planning processes proposals that come forward and the information we receive.

  • My experience in civic leadership allows me to navigate the politics around stakeholders with savvy.

  • My management know-how comes in handy when looking into business activities from budgets to contracts assessments, and from project planning to implementation.
